I see you are owner of GTX670, how is it? From tech specifications it must be very fast for ssao.
I have a GTX580, but i know a lot of hardware.
skyrim needs a very powerfull CPU, more than graphic card.
I have a i5 2500K, at his stock clocks, (3.3ghz) the game don´t runs fine, mostly under 30fps, sometimes at 60fps, but very inestable framerate.
with a moderate overclock (4.5ghz) i never goes below 35fps, even with ultra shadows, high quality SSAO, grass shadows...etc, at 1920x1080 and MSAAx2+SMAA
the GTX670 is 40% faster than mine.
but this athlon will limits a lot to a gtx670, is posible that no sees any change, or a very low change

looks good though 34 fps for that powerhorse, could you turn grass shadows of and see how that impacts it ?
I think most of the performance is taken by 'Glorious Grass' and some of the high LOD's (with Ugridstoload=7) in my SkyrimPrefs... defaulting the LOD's and turning off Glorious Grass nets me 50fps at the same spot, and that's as low as it will go. I've only had the card a few days, so I'm still finding the sweetspot, though I can't complain so far.

I could do with a better CPU cooler, to enable me to push that a bit higher... it runs with no problems a 4.5 but it gets a bit toasty.

Skyrim seems to respond like my other main 'game' FSX which also likes more to CPU over GPU... though that is more extreme, with little difference between a 560ti and GTX680.

Gionight... awesome screens as ever, and I have to ask, is you config available?... I would love to try it if it is.

Re: TES Skyrim

I'm having in mind another project for Skyrim (but seems for other games too, like fsx modded). The idea is to use features of 64-bit OS to free game memory, this will allow to run much more mods (hi-res textures f.e.). For 32 bit OS similar also possible, but not such effective, bigger performance impact and lower limitations (on 64bit up to 192 gb ram possible to use). Just can't decide should i do this for Skyrim or to sell it as addon for FSX, it's users are more adequate. I'll talk to some online shops of FSX mods about that.

not yet, nights aren't done yet. but i will release this version on the nexus, too.

has anyone tried CacheBoost yet? That helps a lot with the management of the Cache and helps with the performance. :) (Don't know if i should post an download link for the full version...)

It would be nice being able to address more memory for the Engine, so do i understand right you want to transfer the executable into 64 bit space on the fly ?, would be a very interesting poc :)

Cacheboost tends to terminate game memory usage. It sometimes flashes RAM usage to 50mb and game slow down to 1-2fps. Only closing-reopening of "cleared" application works. So i unisntalled it. :(

Anything that can help with FSX performance and/or stability would be very welcome, esp. when devs are pushing the limits of the engine [OOM errors are very common]... and at least you can sell apps for FSX through one of the many online stores... FFS [Flight Sim Store] is one of the best, and I think their terms are good.

I beta tested SHADE for FSX which was a simple app to enhance the shadows, and I know it creator did very well selling it through FSS.

It would be great to have it for Skyrim too ;)

Either way good luck with it Boris.

Hey, Insane Jack your config is looking great and quite different to most of the others around... not sure about the patterning you get with the DOF though, what is that?... anyway I'll certainly give it a shot if and when you release it.
