Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.343

Holy crap, this is horrible. Even with my desktop rig startup time is almost 2 minutes when disable shader cache in nvidia control panel and compilation time is so slow on driver side, cause mod itself wasting 8 seconds to patch all shaders and dissasemble them, 11 seconds to assemble patched (i'm talking about game shaders only). I dont remember this with old drivers (322.xx if i remember), probably they had faster compiler or maybe cache was always turned on. From other side, this engine have abnormally huge amount of shaders, so i expected start time will be too big to tolerate if i'll try to modify them. I don't think this can be executed on multiple cores and i can't do any task in parallel which can somehow compencate this, even if i save cached versions to files and reload, nothing gonna change, i can save only those 8+11 seconds (but to waste time to read files, maybe 5+ seconds) which can't be compared to time spent in driver to create them. I dont know how driver make them much faster when they are original game shaders, takes maybe 2-3 seconds only, probably driver hack per game and with old drivers it will not work. Anyway, i have no idea what to do about this problem, it is unfixable.

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.343

The strange thing is that its not always the game takes too long to open, at least here. Sometimes it opens in about 20-30 seconds, sometimes not........

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.343

Found one solution on nvidia developers forum, but not sure if it can be applied to amd or intel. The issue caused by multithreaded creation of my own shaders, somehow driver switch to sync mode on single core. Gonna test this deeper.

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.343

In my case, time to start, from lunching the game via SKSE, to Skyrim logo, 30 seconds. The result is repeatable.

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.343

Version updated, download again
Decreased startup time

Please tell how is it on both AMD and NVidia by time. For me now 22 seconds takes to start with NVidia shader cache disabled (maybe a bit faster with it).

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.343

Nvidia Shader Cache on=34 secs, off=41 secs. Before, on=40 secs, off=over 3 minutes.

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.343

With GTX980Ti SLI Driver 397.64 windows 10

Before
shader cash ON took almost one minute more. to disappear compliing message, and show start menu.

after
shader cash ON took 35 seconds. (I launch from MO2)

I could not see clear difference about shader cash option. then keep it on.
Set it as "on" seems recommended setting from message, compiling shaders?
(and thanks sample plug in included, I may try it)

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.343

from launching the game via SKSE to Skyrim logo, 20 seconds. shader cache on. latest nvidia driver. that's ok.

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.343

Seems no AMD users at all, they don't play games, but mine.
