There was also some trouble with certain AMD craphics card and drivers. It can be a combination of things.
What are your system specs ?
Windows version ?
Graphics card and drivers ?
Any additional software running ? (for example "PrivateProfileRedirector SE" messes with saving settings)

If nothing mods the sun, then there should not be any files at all for it.

Geforce 970
i5 2400 non k
Win 10
Driver 445.87
msi afterburner
Had the problem before using speedfan
No geforce experience

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.435

Hmm... it's not the msi afterburner, I have it running and effects work.

Your CPU is kind a bottleneck, maybe some effects need something newer to work ? (there are things that older CPUs cannot do) But not sure about this - I don't know what exactly is needed from the CPU when playing Skyrim with ENB.

Question for Boris: what are the system requirements for the latest ENB for Skyrim SE ? (CPU, graphics card, RAM, vram, recommended OS)

Windows 10 - one other person with the same problem has Windows 10. Can someone with Windows 10 confirm whether these effects (DistantShadow and NormalMappingShadows) work for them ?

My system, for comparison:

Geforce 1080ti
i7 7700K
Win 7
driver 442.19
msi afterburner

About 300 mods and bethINI modified game ini files (everything maxed out), DynDOLOD, latest ENB (v0.435), latest SKSE64 > every effect seems to work.

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.435

System requirements - any cpu of since Pentium 3, any videocard compatible with dx11 (NVIDIA GTX4xx and up, Radeon HD5xxx and up, but not Intel as it have driver bugs), WinXP x64 and up. I do not believe problem is about OS. Such things relatively easy to check, just 1-3 hours of testing in any messenger application. I repeat again, i can't give tests to this forum any more, it's barely alive and people don't come to visit it, so if i put some version, while waiting i forget what i did and what i need to do for next tests, i can't waste several days to keep such things in mind, there are other tasks to do.

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.435

I'm trying to find a common things among everyone with the same problem, there must be something. So far only Win 10. It might not be it but it's part of a diagnostic process. It can be a combination of things. Need more information.

About forum being barely alive - I believe (hope) it's because it's summertime on the northern hemisphere (where most of the countries are) and people are outdoors more.
I've noticed the same decrease of activity every summer.
I personally check this forum many times a day, even when I'm not replying to anything. (then I'm not logging in)

I have tried to use Discord, but for me it's a mess - where are the topics ? how to find anything ? Every time I log into Discord, it's like finding myself in the middle of conversations. Not easy to find where I left off. Too much has happened in the mean time. It's the same for every Discord server. For a developer this might be a good thing, but for users who come only sometimes, it's harder to use than forums. I think that is the reason why some people want to diagnose their problems in forum rather than in Discord. (I'm not judging anyone, just trying to explain)

Boris - don't worry, you are not alone here, there are other users who can help the ones that need to diagnose something. This should take at least some pressure off from you. Users who ask things in forums do not expect a quick answer anyaway. Eventually someone will reply.

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.435

The problem with testing on the forum has always been that people ask for such tests, Boris provides a binary but then users just vanish, maybe to get back after a week or so, if ever. The same thing happens all over again and I can definitely understand his point of view. Obviously you can't get any sort of sensible testing done that way because you need the feedback instantly, dial in changes and provide a new test binary, instead of the testing session dragging on and on like a bad joke. Not to mention it does give an impression that you (not meaning anyone specifically) don't really care about it.

Try to use vanilla ultra or high game settings, not the one from BethINI, also the common problem is most of users including me sometime forgot to hit save and apply to make the effect applied to the game

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.435

mindflux - the problem is not the forum - it's some users. It does not matter much if they use forum or discord. Technology is not to blame - it's always the people.

Pfuscher - can you test with Win 7 ? (probably not an easy task)

I had too all sorts of problems, until I backed up everything, created new install and then installed the same mods to the new install, few at a time. And now there are no more problems (for now). Took me a few evenings but it was worth it. You could probaly do the same thing and it would take much less time than you have already spent to identify these problems. (There is, however, a small possibility, that it wont solve these problems, but a bigger possibility that it does solve them.) For me this course of action worked perfectly. Sometimes software (game) just goes bad over time.

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.435

There are probably ten thousands that don't have the problem with win 10.
So I won't test win7.
New installation of my Skyrim would take me like weeks.
I'll just check things here and there.

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.435

Testing with Win 7 was just a suggestion - just a part of being very thorough.

But why do you think that new installation takes weeks ? I have over 300 mods and it took just two evenings. (with all the overwrites and additional stuff)
I had some problems and I thought the same way as you - that I'll just check things and find the solutions. After realising that this checking had lasted over a year, I decided to reinstall everything. After that my game has no more problems and it also runs much smoother.

Re: TES Skyrim SE 0.435

New installation takes 10 minutes:
1) Rename game folder.
2) Revalidate integrity of game files in Steam.
