Starting from scratch

I would like to create my own preset from a blank template. I disabled all the effects in the UI menu, including the greyed out effects by setting them to false in the enbseries.ini because I want to start with no changes applied so I can learn what effect does. However, even with all effects disabled under "Effects" section, there is still a change to the image (I see some shadows added) when I check "Useeffect" and I lose about 7 FPS compared to when it is unchecked. What else is making this change that accounts for this 7 fps? I basically want to turn everything off that alters the vanilla scene and have the same FPS when "Useeffect" is turned on and off, then enable and tweak effects and settings one by one.

Also if there are any resources or guides you can direct me to that would help me learn how to create my own preset that would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know any resources, only some "step guide" describes parameters, but maybe it's outdated, not know.

About your first question, game uses original post processing, which is disabled by default in enbseries. Fps loss with effects disabled, because they are visually disabled, but data required to compute them is still generated, you just not see it. F.e. additional render targets. You can't avoid such costs and it's a reason of incompetent people to blame enbseries for low performance.

Re: Starting from scratch

I understand that there's calculations "under the hood" with effects disabled, but also I see some shadows appear when I check "Useeffect" that are not present when I uncheck "Useeffect", even though all the checkmarks in the "Effects" category are disabled. It looks very close to Vanilla game except for this small difference, so I wonder what setting is creating these shadows.

Re: Starting from scratch

Shadow is always modified when UseEffect=true, because it's not detailed shadow, but game one and it's properties are under [SHADOW] category. There are presets on Nexus which use all vanilla things, except active some effects, you can compare them. There is a [FIX] category in the enblocal.ini, influence some things too. About vegetation, i don't remember, probably some bug fixes, like removing fake lights (and don't ask to restore vanilla, i will not do that, in general i am highly against vanilla look).

PS: please do not attach files to the forum, i have limited size on server.

Re: Starting from scratch

No worries bout the images. The darker shadows are not a problem I just wanted to understand why there was a discrepancy. My game is not really "vanilla" really what I meant was modded with ENB on versus modded with ENB off. Thanks for the tips!
