ENBSeries is the project of graphic modifications for games. The main idea is to allow every gamer to configure how game looks like for their own taste, so every player could share settings with others. Many games may look much better and ENBSeries is the easiest way to improve them.
If there is no ENBSeries version for game you wish to modify, just try several avalable, may be one of them will work.
What is good
1 No game specific tools needed.
2 Small size of the modification.
3 Easy to install and uninstall.
4 No problems with banning in multiplayer games.
5 Easy to share configurations with others.
6 Controlled quality for optimal performance on your hardware.
7 Other graphical modifications can be used together with ENBSeries, exceptions.
What is bad
1 Default configuration of ENBSeries in most cases is bad, it not looks as good as modified by users.
2 Creating own configuration is long time process for newbie.
3 Performance speed may be much lower than for original game, because of some modern effects applied or non optimized code of ENBSeries beta versions. For some games also existing specific bottlenecks.
4 Not all games are supported, because of differencies between rendering technologies used in them.
5 Not all effects of ENBSeries may works with games, this depends from game engine and game itself.
How it was created
First version released 3 december 2007. ENBSeries was an experiment of screen space ambient occlusion (SSAO) effect, how it change game scene without lights and poor overall quality. I was lazy to model 3d geometry and decided to apply ssao effect to GTA San Andreas (fit testing purposes well). After success i decided to add few additional effects, named modification and published on the forums in hope that somebody like it. I have no idea why continued to develop new versions and updates.
